Ephesian Medallion Charm

Hand carved crystal quartz depicting a bee and the phases of the moon. Bee is the symbol of Ephesus and the moon. As the owl was the emblem of Athena at Athens, so the bee seems to have been the emblem of Artemis at Ephesus, the, “Moon Goddess”. Bee was considered so important in the cult of Artemis that her priestesses received the name of Melissa, ‘’Bee’’.
